Gustave Maximilien Juste de Croÿ-Solre

Gustav Maximilian Justus von Croy (* September 12, 1773 in Hermitage Castle near Cambrai, † January 1, 1844 in Rouen ) was a cardinal and archbishop of Rouen.

He came from the aristocratic family Croÿ and was the fifth son of Emmanuel Duke of Croy and his wife Friederike Auguste zu Salm - Kyrburg.

Already in 1789 he was appointed canon in the diocese of Strasbourg, but fled because of the French Revolution to Austria. On November 3, 1797 he received the priesthood in Vienna. On August 23, 1819 he was elected bishop of Strasbourg and consecrated in the church of St- Sulpice de Paris by the Archbishop of Reims, Jean -Charles de Coucy on January 9, 1820 Bishop.
