Gustavo A. Madero, D.F.

The Delegación Gustavo A. Madero, named after the Mexican politician Gustavo Adolfo Madero, is one of 16 districts ( delegaciones ) of Mexico City. It is located in the extreme north-east, bordering therefore not only in three districts of the Mexican capital, but also in five municipalities of the State of México.

History

The current district Gustavo A. Madero was created in 1931 and is growing at approximately the square of the previous Villa de Guadalupe Hidalgo a, which received its name in honor of the Holy Lady of Guadalupe. In keeping with the old names are in this district, the building of the old and new Basílica de Guadalupe, built in honor of the Holy woman, and the main attraction of the Delegación Gustavo A. Madero for domestic and foreign tourists are believers.

Crime

The district was according to an official report of 2009 by the adjacent south Delegación Cuauhtémoc and the Iztapalapa district with the third highest crime rate in Mexico City.
