Gusu District

Gusu (Chinese姑苏 区, pinyin GUSU Qū ) is a district of the southern Chinese city of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. It was created 10 August 2012 by the union of the former municipalities Canglang, Pingjiang and Jinchang. Gusu has an area of 84 km ² and around 754,800 inhabitants ( reported residences, end of 2011). Gusu covers the entire city center of Suzhou, including the famous Old Town (Venice of the East). The municipal government of Suzhou has its headquarters in Gusu.

Administrative Divisions

At the community level, Gusu is composed of 18 road districts and three large municipalities. These are:

As a transitional measure until the three former districts have grown together, four "Management Committee " (管委会) were established by the government of the new municipality, which are subject to the road district and large municipalities. They are: " Neustadt Lancang " (沧浪 新城 管委会), " Neustadt Pingjiang " (平 江 新城 管委会), " Neustadt Jinchang " (金阊 新城 管委会) and " commercial and business district Nanmen " ( 南门 商贸 区 管委会).
