Gut Aich Priory

The Gut Aich is a Benedictine monastery built in 2004 in the Salzburg Sankt Gilgen and municipality located in the district Winkl. Prior is Father Johannes Pausch. The specific objective of the monastery is to contribute to the peaceful coexistence of people and nations in Europe. Therefore, the monastery called " Europe monastery". Patron of the monastery is the Saint Benedict of Nursia, the father of the Order of Benedictine monks, who is also the patron saint of Europe.

History

It was approximately a thousand years Benedictine monks were active in the Salzkammergut, the most famous was St. Wolfgang of Regensburg, of the lake and city have their name.

1993 agreed to the Archbishop of Salzburg, Georg Eder, who founded a new monastery in St. Gilgen. The Franciscan Sisters of Au am Inn set for this new beginning her former children's home Gut Aich available. They were adopted on 24 July.

On 31 October 1994, the church on the thousandth anniversary of the death of St. Wolfgang was ordained. In 1996, the chapel and the monastery were furnished with works of art. Together with brother Thomas realized Leopold Hafner the tabernacle and the apostles wreath above the altar, and the then German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, a permanent guest in Sankt Gilgen, presented the monastery with an icon of Christ the Pope. 1997 Hildegard Center was constructed and consecrated on July 11 by Cardinal Augustine Mayer.

2001, the first canonical visitation of the monastery by the Bureau of the Austrian Benedictine Congregation took place, the second on 15 March 2004. Facilities and services

The Hildegard Center, named after Hildegard of Bingen, is led by brother Emmanuel Hessler OSB therapeutic clinic of the monastery. It includes massage, physiotherapy, psychotherapy and psychosomatic combination therapy. Furthermore offered acupuncture, infrared, and herbal therapies. With the integration of a medical director and the embedding of the outpatient clinic in the spirituality of the monastery, a holistic approach to treatment is sought.

In the winery of the monastery various liqueurs, honey products, oils, balsams, tinctures and some other products are produced according to ancient natural methods, which are sold in the monastery shop.
