Geographical Location

Guteneck is located in the Upper Palatinate region - North 7 km east of Federal Highway 93, on the rocky west bank high above the Katzbach which ends about 3 km further south at Willhof in the Schwarzach.

History

The 1147 first mentioned place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark, which was owned by the Counts of Kreuth since 1576. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. The present castle Guteneck went in the 13th century a Gothic castle advance of the later a castle was built. 1272 to 1574 it was owned by the Lords of Murach and 1570-1893 it had the Earl of Kreith. The castle burned down in 1822 in a village fire completely off. First, only the chapel and the castle buildings associated with it was rebuilt. Count Franz von Spreti built in 1894 a residential wing on medieval foundations, whereby he baroque remains of walls with used. The current owners, the Counts Beissel von Gymnich offer apartments at the castle. The chapel is popular for weddings.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Pish village and Unteraich were incorporated. On May 1, 1978 small parts of the disbanded community Hohentreswitz were added.

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the manufacturing sector and 25 in the area of ​​trade and transport any social insurance contributions at the workplace.
