Guttannen
Guttannen is a municipality in the Interlaken- Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
History
Guttannen is a place name that became a place name. It is a short form of the ze guoten firs ( In the good firs ). In 1377 it was first written records as Guotontannon.
Geography
Guttannen located in the Bernese Oberland at the Grimsel Pass. The neighboring communities of north clockwise are starting Innertkirchen, Gadmen, Goms VS, Münster VS, Fieschertal and Grindelwald.
The glaciers of Guttannen springs the river Aare. The water is extensively used for power generation, there are four lakes: Oberaarsee, the Grimsel, the Räterichsbodensee and Gelmersee.
Are Schreckhorn, the Lauteraarhorn and Finstaarhorn On the western boundary of the municipality.
Also the municipality include the Finsteraargletscher, the Lauteraargletscher, the Unteraargletscher, the Oberaargletscher, the Gruebengletscher and Bächligletscher.

School
At the school Guttannen be in the 1st - 6th Class ( comprehensive school ) teaches around 20 children. Between August 2007 and June 2012 was a day-school program. In 1971, the school ground, a hamlet 3 km below the Cantons of Bern abolished; the built in 1956 schoolhouse now serves kindergarten. With over 200 square kilometers Guttannen is a huge Swiss standards mountain community. It is larger than the entire canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. 90 % of the area is but barren land.
The missionary Oskar Friedrich Dürrenmatt's play Rose in " The Physicists ", which is on the way to a mission station on the Mariana Islands in the Pacific, was previously a pastor in Guttannen.
