Guus Albregts

Augustine Marie Hendrik ( Guus ) Albregts ( born November 22, 1900 in Vught, † June 8, 1980 in 's- Hertogenbosch ) was a Dutch university teacher and politician ( KVP ). He was briefly Minister without Portfolio in the Cabinet of Willem Drees.

Life

Albregts first worked the first 20 years of his career as a teacher, which from 1926 to 1945 at the Roman Catholic Lyceum in Hilversum, from 1929 to 1945 and at the Technical High School in Utrecht. From 1932-1937 he studied economics at the Catholic University of Economics in Tilburg in 1948 he received his doctorate. This was followed on his study of 1949-1951 an associate professor of international economic policy. From 1945-1951 Albregts was both Secretary General of the Catholic Employers 'Association AKWV as well as Director of the Association of Catholic employers' organizations.

In March 1951 Albregts was appointed Minister without Portfolio and dealt with matters from then on the middle class, public-sector business organization and increase productivity in the entire economy. Together with Economics Minister van den Brink, he arranged for a sales ban on Sundays and for business days from 18:00 bis 05:00 clock, in which, however, exceptions were allowed.
