Guy Babylon

Guy Babylon ( born December 20, 1956 in New Windsor, Maryland, † September 2, 2009 in Los Angeles ) was an American composer and keyboardist, who was known for his work with Elton John.

Babylon went to the Francis Scott Key High School and then attended the University of South Florida, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in music composition. He moved to Los Angeles. In 1988 he became a member of Elton John's studio and touring band and took part in the recording of the album Sleeping With the Past with. In 1990 he also played in the group Warpipes, a side project of Davey Johnstone, another member of Elton John's band.

In 2001, the original soundtrack of the musical Aida, in which he had participated, won a Grammy Award. He also worked with Elton John and Bernie Taupin Lestat the Musical. Until his death, he lived with his family in Los Angeles and was a member of the six-member touring band and recording of Elton John. Overall, he was in 1351 concerts at the side of Elton John on stage.

Babylon died - according to the current status of the investigation, an autopsy is pending - of a heart attack while swimming in a swimming pool.
