Guy Boucher

Guy Boucher ( born August 3, 1971 in Notre- Dame-du -Lac, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach. Since January 2014 he has been head coach of SC Bern in Switzerland.

Career

Boucher was initially active from 1991 to 1995 for the ice hockey team of McGill University, which ran aground for the Canadians in the Canadian Interuniversity Athletics Union. Following this time the striker spent a season, the season 1995/96, the French first division club Viry -Châtillon Essonne Hockey and scored in 35 games 48 points scorer. Relatively early after Boucher began a career as coach embark and was initially a season as assistant coach of the McGill Redmen act for which he was an active player himself has accrued. He led the team to 54 wins and 112 points in the regular season, what a new franchise record showed. This was recognized by the League with the awarding of Paul Dumont Trophy as personality of the year. In June 2009, Boucher was appointed head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. As a farm team of the Montreal Canadiens managed an excellent regular season with 52 wins in 80 games in the playoffs and reaching the Conference Finals. For this he was awarded the Louis AR Pieri Award as Coach of the Year. For the season 2010/11 the carriage followed the head coach of the NHL team Tampa Bay Lightning, which led Boucher in his debut season in the final round.

On March 24, 2013 Boucher was released by the Tampa Bay Lightning after he was 2012/13, winning only 13 games with his team from the first 31 games of the NHL season and the team finished in last place in the Eastern Conference.

Since January 27, 2014 Boucher coached the team SC Bern of the National League A.

Internationally

Boucher worked under Pat Quinn as assistant coach of Canada's selection at the U20 World Youth Championship 2009. Previously, he had trained in the same function already at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008, the Canadian national team. At the World Championship 2012 he supported Brent Sutter, along with Kirk Muller, behind the gang.
