Guy I of Montlhéry

Guido I. (franz: Gui de Montlhery, † 1095 ) was a Lord of Montlhery and Bray- sur -Seine from the house Montlhery. According to the Historia Francorum of Aimoin de Fleury, he was a son of Theobald of Montlhery.

He was married to Hoderine of Gometz, which earned him the castles of Gometz -le- Châtel and La Ferté- Baudouin in marriage. Through their children, they were mainly associated with important Crusader dynasties:

  • Guido the Red († 1108 ), Lord of Rochefort, Le Ferte- de Baudouin and Gometz
  • Melisende; ∞ with Count Hugh I of Rethel - the parents of King Baldwin II of Jerusalem
  • Elisabeth; ∞ with Joscelin of Courtenay - the parents of Count Joscelin I of Edessa
  • Alix; ∞ with Hugo I of Le Puiset († 1094 ) ( House Le Puiset )

Together with his wife and with the support of the Bishop of Paris, founded in 1061 Guido the Benedictine priory of Notre-Dame of Longpont -sur-Orge, which they handed over to twenty-two monks from the Abbey of Cluny. Longpont becoming the first branch of the Association clunizianischen monastery in the region around Paris. According to legend, his wife took with his own hands on the building.

Apparently Guido stood the royal court and was close to 1068 used as Castellan of Rochefort -en- Yvelines. The last time he is called as a witness in 1071 a royal charter in writing. Then he joined as a simple monk in the Abbey Longpont -sur -Orge, where he died.
