Guy L. Shaw

Guy Loren Shaw ( * May 16, 1881 in Summer Hill, Pike County, Illinois, † May 19, 1950 in Normal, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1921 and 1923 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Guy Shaw attended the common schools and the College of Agriculture at the University of Illinois in Urbana. He then worked in agriculture. He also dealt with the drainage of flooded areas along the Illinois River. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. In 1920 he was a member of a meeting on the revision of the Constitution of Illinois.

In the congressional elections of 1920, Shaw was in the 20th electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Henry T. Rainey on March 4, 1921. Since he lost in 1922 against Rainey, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1923.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives was active Guy Shaw in Beardstown and Urbana in the real estate industry. He later moved to Normal, where he managed a farm among others. There he is on 19 May 1950, died.
