Guy L. Steele, Jr.

Guy Lewis Steele Jr. ( born October 2, 1954) is an American computer scientist who was involved in the drafting of several popular programming languages.

Another research area of Steele is parallel computing. He also designed the original instruction set of the Emacs text editor and was a long time maintainer of the Jargon file.

In 2007, Steele received the Harry H. Goode Memorial Award.
