Guy Lacour

Guy Lacour, actually Guillaume Lacour, ( born June 8, 1932 in Soissons, Aisne ) is a French composer and tenor saxophonist.

Life

He received his first music lessons at the age of 10 in his hometown. He joined local orchestras and won his first degree from the Confédération Musicale de France. Then he went to the Conservatory of Versailles and studied with Marcel Josse. From 1950 he studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Marcel Mule Saxophone and chamber music with Fernand Oubradous.

After studying his musical career developed in three different directions. As pop saxophonist, he played in many of the leading groups of the era as well as in leading music halls, cabarets and variety shows ( Lido, Moulin Rouge, Folies Bergère, etc.). At the same time he showed as a saxophonist, he could also interpret classical works stylish. This showed numerous concerts in broadcasting, with symphony orchestras and even at the opera. In 1961 he was a member of the well-known Marcel Mule Quartet as a tenor saxophonist. This even led to the fact that he played concerts and LP recordings with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Herbert von Karajan and the Orchestre de Paris under the baton of Daniel Barenboim as soloist. When dissolved the Marcel Mule Quartet, he played for several years with the Ensemble de Saxophones Français

His faculty career began in 1975. He lectured saxophone at various conservatories in the region around Paris. Ultimately, he kept it only a job as a professor at the Ecole Nationale de Musique Edgar Varèse in Gennevilliers, Hauts -de -Seine department, but he was still in the same year, when he focused on the job in Gennevilliers, director of the Conservatoire Municipal de Mantes- la -Ville, Yvelines.

He was also a member of many juries of orchestra and saxophone competitions. He is a founding member of the Association of Saxophonistes de France, where he later became an honorary member for his services. Furthermore, won him the Selmer Company in Mantes -la -Ville as technical consultant and instruments testers.

In 1992, he finished all his other activities in order henceforth to devote himself to the third aspect of his musical career, the composition. His first works date back to the year 1963. Much of his work still serve as compulsory pieces of national and international competitions.
