Guy Rewenig

Guy Rewenig ( born August 31, 1947 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg writer.

Life

Rewenig grew up in Gasperich and Zessingen and has passed the Abitur at Kolléisch. In Walferdingen he has studied teacher and first, then pursued the profession in Bettemburg 1971 in Esch- sur -Alzette. In 1984 he moved to Nospelt, where he has been living as a freelance writer.

In 1974 he was a founding member of the Association de soutien aux travailleurs immigrés ( ASTI ). In 2000 he ultimo mondo founded with Roger Manderscheid the publisher. Guy Rewenig is a member of PEN Center Germany.

Literary creation

From 1963 to Rewenig was first published movie reviews in the Luxemburger Wort. 1970 is his first play interview came out, and a collection of short stories, When the fig tree withered away. Since 1973, he also writes children's literature; his book Muschkilusch, which came out in 1980, was reprinted eight times.

1984 Rewenig has published his first novel in Luxembourgish, Hannert the Atlantic. To date, he writes in German, Luxembourgish as in French. As a freelancer, he is a contributing writer for newspapers and magazines such as daily journal, Alternative, perspective, Gréngespoun or forum. In general, there are socio-critical texts, which Rewenig mentalities and abuses in their own country takes on the grain. For this purpose, known in particular his satirical, visit the Made in Happyland in the weekly Lëtzebuerger country.

Culture Political Commitment

Before the presentation of the Servais Prize on 5 July 2010 Rewenig has in the weekly D' Lëtzebuerger Land addressed an open letter to the current Minister of Culture Octavie Modert and asked it not to appear at the award ceremony to deliver the speech. He criticized not only the missing ratio of the Ministry to the Luxembourg cultural workers, but also the cultural and political disinterest of the longtime ruling party. Michel Pauly attacked in the forum on the topic, where he spoke of " cultural policy without vision ".
