Guy Williams (visual effects)

Guy Williams (born 1969 or 1970 in Jackson, Mississippi) is a special effects artist who was nominated in 2013 for Marvel's The Avengers for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects.

Life

He grew up in Greenwood and went to the Clinton High School. Then he studied from 1989 at the Mississippi State University. At the beginning he studied aviation and space technology, but moved to the field of computer technology later. In 1993 he left the university and became technical manager at Boss Film. In the following years he worked with companies such as Warner Digital, Rhythm & Hues and Rainmaker LA before moving in 1999 to Weta Digital, to work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

This was followed by movies like I, Robot, X-Men: The Last Stand and Avatar - Pandora. In 2013 he was nominated along with Janek Sirrs, Jeff White and Daniel Sudick for the film Marvel's The Avengers for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects.
