Gwen Moore

Gwendolynne Sophia " Gwen " Moore ( born April 18, 1951 in Racine, Wisconsin) is an American politician. Since 2005, it represents the state of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Gwen Moore visited the Northern Division High School and then studied until 1978 at Marquette University. She then worked for the municipality of Milwaukee as a Housing Officer in the administration building. Politically, she joined the Democratic Party. Between 1989 and 1992 she was a Member of Parliament in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Then they belonged from 1993 to 2003 to the State Senate. In the years 1997 and 1998 she was president of that body.

In the congressional elections of 2004, Moore was in the fourth electoral district of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they became the successor of Jerry Kleczka on January 3, 2005. After the previous three elections, they can exercise their mandate in Congress today. Since it was confirmed in the elections of 2010, with 69 % of the votes, it can take an additional two -year term in Congress on January 3, 2011. In 2006, she caused a stir when she demonstrated along with several other members of Congress before the Sudanese Embassy against the policy of the Sudan 's Darfur region and thereby entered the embassy grounds. But the deputies were briefly arrested and punished with a fine. Thus, the group had reached their goal but to bear the criticism of the Sudanese politics in the public.
