Gwyneth Dunwoody

Gwyneth Dunwoody Patricia (née Phillips) ( born December 12, 1930 in Fulham, † 17 April 2008) was a British politician and member of the Labour Party.

Dunwoody was born in 1930 in Fulham, the daughter of Morgan Phillips and Norah Phillips. In 1946 she joined the Labour Party in and was a loyal and very active party member. In 1954 she married John Dunwoody. 1963 to 1966 she served on the Totnes Borough Council, before it was 1966 Member of the House of Commons. 1966 to 1970 representing the electoral district Dunwoody Exeter. After she lost her seat in the House of Commons in 1970, it was for the next four years Director of the Film Production Association of Great Britain. In 1974 she was again for the constituency Crewe deputies in the House of Commons. In 1983, then for the electoral district of Crewe and Nantwich. 1975 Dunwoody and her husband divorced. From this marriage a daughter, Tamsin Dunwoody, and had two sons. Besides her work as a Member of the British House of Commons, Gwyneth Dunwoody was from 1974 to 1979 Member of the European Parliament.

Dunwoody died on April 17 after a heart surgery.
