Gyenesdiás [ ɟɛnɛʃdia ː ʃ ] is located on Lake Balaton and the immediate neighboring town of Keszthely in Hungary. The name was created in 1840 by merging the cities and Gyenes Diás.
North of the site is bounded by the hills of the Keszthely Mountains. There are many hiking trails. To the west and east cycling routes lead to different destinations: around Lake Balaton, a nature reserve Kis -Balaton or Bad Hévíz.
The place has increasingly developed into a holiday resort at Lake Balaton and is interesting for continuous and spa guests due to its proximity to Keszthely, Zalakaros and the spa town of Hévíz. Thus He lives in large part on tourism.
Two beaches are operated, of which the larger ( in Diás, east side ) many sports facilities and entertainment offers ( entertainment, beach radio, board games in garden size). The smaller Lido beach in Gyenes is quieter and more suitable for families. He is also the gateway for the climbing in the forest ( right on the shore ). There are also in Diás a marina ( yacht club ) and two anglers clubs.
The twin towns of Gyenesdiás are for some years the Styrian municipality Gaal and Csíkszenttamás Transylvania / Romania.
