Gylfi Magnússon

Gylfi Magnússon (born 1966 ) is an Icelandic economist and Associate Professor of Business Administration since 1998 at the University of Iceland. He is also a former head of the Icelandic Competition Authority ( Samkeppniseftirlitið ).

Gylfi made ​​in Reykjavík High School, studied until 1990 at the University of Iceland economics and his doctorate in 1997 at Yale University in the United States.

Gylfi was on February 1, 2009 Trading Minister in a minority government of Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir. On 1 October 2009 he joined the Office of the Minister of Economy. His ministerial post he resigned on 2 September 2010 and went back to the University of Iceland.
