Gyong La

The Gyong La, on German Gyong - Pass, is a 5686 -meter high mountain pass in the Saltoro Mountains in the southwest of the Siachen glacier, 20 km away from the 980 420 point NJ, a point on the border between India and Pakistan. The pass is located in the eastern Karakoram.

Importance of the pass

The Gyong La is close passports Sia La and La Bilafond. These three passes were occupied during the operation Meghdoot the Indian Army in Siachen conflict on 13 April 1984. This element of combat is part of the smoldering since 1947 Kashmir conflict between India and Pakistan.

The pass, like the other two are controlled by Indian armed forces.
