György Kárpáti

Gyorgy Karpati ( born June 23, 1935 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian water polo player.

He was with the Hungarian water polo team in 1952, 1956 and 1964 Olympic champion and won at the 1960 Olympic Games bronze. 1954, 1958 and 1962 he was European champion with the Hungarian team. After 1956, the Hungarian national uprising was brutally suppressed, Karpaty was one of five players who returned to the Olympics in 1956 immediately after Hungary. In total he played 165 international matches for Hungary. With Ferencvaros Budapest Karpaty won in the years 1956, 1962, 1963, 1965 and 1968, the Hungarian Championship in water polo. In 1982 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
