György Petri

György Petri ( born 1943 in Budapest, † June 17, 2000 ) was a Hungarian writer and is now in Hungary as one of the leading poets.

Life

The ultimate experience of his youth was the revolution of 1956, the invasion of the Soviet army in Hungary. He decided to become a poet. From 1961 to 1966 he studied philosophy and literature at the L. Eötvös University in Budapest. In the eighties he worked for various magazines. From 1975 to 1988, a publication ban was imposed because of his activities in the democratic opposition over him. During this time he published only in the underground and abroad.

Work

His recurring themes include the everyday life with its antonyms, such as hope and resignation, helplessness and resignation, struggle and failure, love and hate.
