György Sztantics

György Sztantics [ ɟørɟ stɒntitʃ ] ( born August 19, 1878 in Subotica, Subotica today, † July 9, 1918 ) was a Hungarian athlete. He was the second Olympic gold medalist in walking.

On April 30, 1906 at the Summer Olympics, the first Olympic history walking competition was held over 1500 meters. It won the American Bonhag George, who was actually a middle-distance runner. In this final of the Hungarian György Sztantics came on the seventh and last place. The day after the 3000 -meter walk was held. Sztantics won in 15:13,2 minutes before the German Hermann Müller.
