Gyula Lóránt

Gyula Lóránt [ lo ː ra ː nt ɟulɒ ], born Gyula Lipovics ( born February 6, 1923 in Kőszeg; † 31 May 1981 in Thessaloniki ) was a Hungarian football player and football coach.

Sporting career

As a center-half, he played in Kőszegi SE, Szombathelyi FC, ​​Nagyváradi AC, Nagyváradi Szabadság SK, Vasas SC and the Budapesti Honvéd with the back number 3 in the team Honvéd he played with stars such as Ferenc Puskás or József Bozsik.

The first highlight of his career was winning the Olympic gold medal in 1952. He graduated in 1954 five games in the defense of the Hungarian national team and was one of the players who were subject in Bern the German national team in the legendary final of the football World Cup in 1954.

From 1942 to 1955 he played 42 times for the Hungarian national team.

As a player, he resigned in 1962. From August 1962 to April 1963, he coached the Budapesti Honvéd, then the team of the club Oroszlany.

Pál Csernai followed Lóránt as head coach of Bayern and has also worked with this principle. First, this principle did not prevail in Germany, today it is in world football standard.

In 1980 he returned to Thessaloniki, where he had celebrated his greatest successes. In the spring of the following year he suffered in a game his team against Olympiakos Piraeus on the bench a heart attack from which he died.
