H. D. Kumaraswamy

HD Kumaraswamy ( Haradanahalli Devegowda Kumaraswamy, Kannada: ಹೆಚ್.ಡಿ. ಕುಮಾರಸ್ವಾಮಿ; born December 16, 1959 in Haradanahalli, District Hassan ) is an Indian politician of the party Janata Dal ( Secular ) (JD (S)). He was chief minister 2006-2007 ( head of government) of the state of Karnataka.

Biography

Origin and entry into politics

HD Kumaraswamy was born on December 16, 1959 in the village in the district of Hassan Haradanahalli in southern Karnataka. His father is the politician HD Deve Gowda, who was also Chief Minister of Karnataka 1994-1996 and 1996-1997 Prime Minister of India. Kumaraswamy is Hindu and is one of the Vokkaliga, a strong presence especially in the south Karnataka caste, which plays an important role in the embossed loyalties of caste politics of Karnataka in addition to also numerically strong Lingayat. His training included Kumaraswamy with a Bachelor of Science in Bangalore from. After graduating Kumaraswamy went into the movie rental business. HD Kumaraswamy began his political career in the run from his father HD Deve Gowda Janata Dal party (JD). At the all-India general election in 1996 he was elected for the JD from the Kanakapura constituency in the Lok Sabha ( the lower house of the Indian Parliament ). At the election in 1998 but lost his seat. Also failed in his candidacy for the Federal State Parliament of Karnataka, the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, 1999, Kumaraswamy. In the same year he joined the Janata Dal Party ( Secular ) (JD (S ) ), which seceded HD Deve Gowda under his father from the Janata Dal and since then has a presence mainly in Karnataka.

As Chief Minister

At the next Federal State Elections 2004 HD Kumaraswamy managed a place in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. In the election, the JD (S ) went out from behind the hindunationalsitischen Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP ) and the Indian National Congress as the third strongest party. As a result, formed Congress and JD (S ) of a coalition government with the Congress politician N. Dharam Singh as head of government.

In early 2006, the JD (S ) rose under the leadership HD Kumaraswamys but from the coalition with the Congress party and joined a coalition government with the BJP. It was agreed that HD Kumaraswamy to take over by the BJP for the second half of the remaining term of the office of Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa for the first and. On February 4, 2006 Kumaraswamy was sworn in as Chief Minister.

Other political career

From the election of 2008, the BJP emerged as the winner. HD Kumaraswamy moved again into a federal state parliament. A year later he gave up his seat after he was elected in the Indian general election in 2009 from the Bangalore Rural constituency in the Lok Sabha.

In July 2011, it was revealed that HD Kumaraswamy was, like his successor BS Yeddyurappa involved in a larger Korrputionsskandal to illegal mining in Karnataka. An independent Commission accused Kumaraswamy of having awarded to two mining companies during his tenure as Chief Minister illegally prospecting licenses. In December 2011, Kumaraswamy has been accused of corruption allegations.

2013 HD Kumaraswamy appeared again at the federal state elections in Karnataka. The choice went for the JD (S ) disappointing and ended with a victory of the Congress Party. Kumawaswamy but managed to enter parliament and gave his Lok Sabha seat - on to take up the deputy's mandate in Karnataka. In the newly elected Parliament Kumaraswamy acted as leader of the opposition. In 2014 he had the office of the opposition leader but leave after the BJP had risen through the exchange of some Members of the largest opposition faction.
