Haakonsvern

Haakonsvern is the largest base of the Royal Norwegian Navy and the Coast Guard of Norway. It is situated in Hordaland about 15 km outside of Bergen. In total there are 4,000 employed soldiers and civilians, including about 1,250 conscripts.

In April 2006, the first of several new frigates of the Royal Norwegian Navy sailed into Haakonsvern. Due to the new acquisition of these frigates had to be considerably extended, for example, the dry dock. There is also a helipad for the Helikopterdetasjement from Bardufoss to be completed in 2016.
