Hair ( listen? / I ) is a city and a municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant, between 's- Hertogenbosch and Tilburg.

Neighboring communities

At the village of Esch along the small river de Stroom Essche flows.

Towns

In 1996, the municipality of hair has been extended to the dissolved municipalities Esch and Helvoirt. In 1997, the community was added to the village Biezenmortel ( former municipality Udenhout ). In the municipality of hair there are many forest and nature reserves, among other things, part of the National Parks Loon and Drunen Dunes. In the municipality of hair there is also a hamlet named Hal.

Larger towns nearby are 's- Hertogenbosch and Tilburg.

Seminary

In hair there used to be a seminary, was formed at the Donders, among other Peerke a priest. During the Second World War, there was a camp for hostages and a prison. Here mayors and other prominent citizens were held hostage.

In addition, there secret agents among others Marconist Huub Lauwers were held captive, who had been arrested during the England game. As early as 1947 first commemorative plaques at the main gate were attached to the building complex, but it was only in May 2000, the Gedenkplaats hair could be opened with a permanent exhibition on the history of hostage camp and the police prison.

Cooperation

The municipality hair works closely with the communities Vught and Sint- Michielsgestel. It focuses above all on personal aspects with the two communities. A merger between Vught and hair is not (yet) on the program, but it will probably talked about it.

Transport links

Car

All villages in the municipality hair, with the exception of ash, are located on the N65. This hair is very accessible. Esch and the hamlet of Hal are on the A2. Ash can be reached via the exit Boxtel -Noord, while the hamlet Hal Area can be reached via the Boxtelseweg ( the road on the A2 along Boxtel Vught ).

Bus

The municipality hair ( Helvoirt and Esch) no longer has a railway station since 1938. In the community, however, at some urban and regional bus company BBA ( Brabantsche Buurtspoorwegen s car services).

Radio and TV

The municipality hair has two local stations: HOS TV, a cable newspaper for the whole community and DELETE TV, Local TV for Esch.

In the town you can also receive some regional stations: Omroep Brabant and radio 8FM. Since 1 January 2006 there is competition from a commercial local television TV & Co.
