Habsburgwarte

Habsburgwarte is located on the 542 m high Hermannskogel in Vienna. It is 27 meters high and has the shape of a medieval fortified tower. For the appearance of the architect Franz von Neumann is responsible.

Habsburgwarte was donated in 1888 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of emperor Franz Joseph I, the Austrian Tourist Club and opened in 1889. In 1972, she was declared a National Monument. It is operated today as a vantage point from ÖTK and is open to the public on weekends during the summer season for an admission fee.

On the observation deck of the Habsburgwarte is the fundamental point of the Austrian National Survey, which was in 1892 appointed by the Imperial and Royal Military Geographical Institute.

During the Second World War, the Habsburgwarte was damaged. Helpful in the restoration was the EVN, and may it use the building as a radio relay station.
