Habsheim

Habs home (Alsatian Habse ) is a commune with 4865 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. The suburb was once farming and wine-growing town is the capital of the eponymous canton and member of the Association of Municipalities Mulhouse Alsace AgglomÃ.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the edge of the upper Rhine valley, about seven kilometers south-east of the city center of Mulhouse.

History

The first time was mentioned in Habs home in 757 under the name Habuhinesheim, abode of Habuchino, a Frankish lord.

On June 26, 1988 fell on the airfield Mulhouse - Habsheim an Airbus A320 -100 Air France during a demonstration flight (Air France flight 296 ) from and claimed three lives.

Habs home is on the railway line Strasbourg -Basel and the Autoroute A35 ( port 33 ). The station is serviced by the line S1 of the Regio S- Bahn Basel and thus has direct trains on the one hand to Mulhouse, on the other hand via Basel to Frick and running castle in the Swiss canton of Aargau. Through the village leads the department road 201 that leads from the state border at Basel to Ile Napoléon.

In the field of Rixheim and Habs home is the airfield Mulhouse - Habs home, which has existed since 1909 and primarily serves the Hobby flying.
