Häcklingen is a district in the south of Lüneburg, about 6 km from the city center. The district has a size of 4,997 ha In the west it borders on the district Rettmer. To the north it is separated by a small forest of Bockelsberg district, to the east bounded by the Uelzener Street ( former federal road B 4). The nearest place to the south is Melbeck.

History

Grave mounds and artifacts of the penknife groups occupy the colonization of the patch since the Neolithic period.

In 1562, the convent of the monastery of St. Michael built in Häcklingen a pond. Ever since 1696 there has been a collaboration between Häcklingen and the adjacent Rettmer. For this year there are reports of a teacher in Rettmer, who also taught children from Häcklingen.

In 1792 the school was built in the beginning of children from Rettmer went. 1885 Häcklingen was assigned to the newly formed district of Lüneburg. Until then, it was under the Office Lüne.

On 8 May 1902, the volunteer fire department Rettmer - Häcklingen was founded. This was divided due to new legal provisions according to which every village must have its own fire department in 1934. On 11 September, the independent volunteer fire department Häcklingen was founded.

On 18 August 1903, the village received its own football club, FC Favourite Lüneburg, who with FC Hansa Lüneburg merged to SV Eintracht Lüneburg on 10 December 1905.

1942 caused by air strikes extensive forest fires in the region. On April 30, 1945, the headquarters of the 2nd British Army was built under Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery in Häcklingen. Here for the first time the surrender of German forces in northern Germany was offered this. 1971 Tennis Club Häcklingen was founded. On March 1, 1974, the village was incorporated as part of the administrative and territorial reform in the town of Lüneburg.

2002, a day-care center was built. 2003, the primary school was expanded to accommodate the growing number of school age children in the catchment area. It has now three compartments. 2006 was the elementary school, a new gymnasium and solar panels on the roofs of school buildings and gymnasium. Club Life

The team of 40 ladies tennis club plays in the regional league, the team won the 2006 Men's 40 championship title in the circle class.

1994 Station South was built in Rettmer, in which the three southern fire services Häcklingen, Rettmer and edema should be shared roof and vehicle. Since 2000, the use of the volunteer fire department Häcklingen disengaged from the South to guard inserts. 2005-06 the former fire Häcklingen was rebuilt in their own work and has since served as a youth fire station.
