Hadahur Music School

The Hadahur Music School is East Timor's first music school. It is located in the state capital of Dili Suco Becora. " Hadahur " means " meeting for singing and dancing ."

The school was opened President José Ramos -Horta and Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo, in the presence of the two Nobel Peace Prize on 18 July 2009. It goes back to an initiative of Dili Bishop Alberto Ricardo da Silva and was founded by the Sisters of Mary MacKillop Joseph Osttimormission. In addition to the arts education, the school should contribute to national self-discovery by helping preserve the rich treasure of traditional music and instruments. Also teachers dealing with musical instruments for school lessons are taught.

Are offered in early childhood music education, teaching in traditional music and instruments Western classical music in collaboration with music schools in Australia and study and performances of popular music. Also invited from Australia, for example luthier who teach their craft Timorese.
