Hadash

Hadash ( חד"ש ) is a combined list of socialist parties in Israel. Hadash is Hebrew and means " new", but it is also the acronym for HaChasit haDemokratit leSchalom uleSchiwjon, (Hebrew: החזית הדמוקרטית לשלום ולשוויון ), which means Democratic Front for Peace and Equality. Hadash in its present form was established in 1977 in the Knesset election and consisted mainly of the pro-Soviet and the majority Palestinian Arab New Communist List.

Hadash is in favor of the evacuation of all Jewish settlements and the withdrawal from the 1967 in the wake of the Six Day War, Israeli-occupied territories. Chadasch also supports the rights of workers.

The electoral base of Hadash form predominantly Jewish and Arab communists. The party maintained despite an official ban on pre-1993 close ties to the PLO.

1992 Chadasch supported the government of Yitzhak Rabin, but without officially being part of the ruling coalition.

In 1996, Chadasch a common list of Balad.

The electoral alliance with the Arab nationalist Ta'al at the 2003 election, the party in particular, introduced by the Judeo- Communist minority accused of damaging the coexistence principle of party.
