Haferlschuh

The brogue is a traditional shoe model that was in use as a working footwear of the population in the Alpine region is. In Bavaria they call this shoe model also Bundschuh, in Austria Protect shoe. The brogue is indeed part of many alpine costumes, but also a normal, everyday shoe.

Features

As a typical Bavarian everyday shoe, there is the brogues in different versions. Thus, the Upper Bavarian variant example is provided with a side lacing and the Allgäu version with a normal instep. Most modern brogues show the following features:

  • Shoe lace with rectangular shank edge downwards
