Hafsia Herzi
Hafsia Herzi ( born January 25, 1987 in Manosque, Alpes -de -Haute- Provence) is a French actress.
Biography
Herzi was born in 1987 as the youngest of six children of an Algerian- Tunisian family. She grew up in modest circumstances in the north of Marseille. Her father died when she was two years old, her mother was a housewife. First acting experience gained Herzi at the age of twelve, when she stood as Komparsin in a TV movie of the public television station France 3 in front of the camera. However, acting classes she could not attend because her family did not have sufficient financial resources.
After graduation Herzi began studying law, before she was discovered at a casting in her home town of the French director Abdellatif Kechiche 2005. Kechiche, also of North African origin, prepared at this time in Marseille his third feature film Couscous ago after for his previous work L' Esquive, a social study over a group of adolescent youth in the suburbs of Paris, the praise of critics and the most important French film award, the César, had received. How L' Esquive focused Couscous again the life of the North African minority in France and was also almost exclusively occupied with amateur actors. The film tells the story of a 60 -year-old unemployed shipyard worker (played by Habib Boufares ), who lives separated from his family. Couscous celebrated its world premiere at the 64th Film Festival in Venice, where he was represented in the competition for the Golden Lion. Praised for his pictures and his artfully arranged narrative rhythm, the film became a co-favorite for the grand prize, while Herzi for her portrayal of young and energetic stepdaughter Rym also received recognition and together with the Australian Oscar winner Cate Blanchett ( I'm Not There ), the British Kierston Wareing ( It's a Free World ... ) and the Chinese Tang Wei ( lust, Caution ) as Mitfavoritin for the Volpi Cup, the award for the best actress of the film festival was. Although the Best Actor award went to Blanchett, but received Herzi the Marcello Mastroianni Award - best young actress and 2008 César in the same category. Also in 2009, appeared in the comedy film Le roi de l' évasion (Alain Guiraudie ); in May 2010 was Raja Amari drama Anonymous in theaters.
