Haft-Seen
Detention Sin (Persian هفت سین ) are seven elements with which the Sofreh ( سفره " board ") of the Nowruz festival ( Persian New Year ), the Sofreh detention Sin ( سفره هفت سین ), early spring (around March 21 ) is decorated in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Central Asia.
The seven mandatory elements of Sofreh detention Sin, that all start with the letter Sin ( س ), after Iranian scientists are Dr. Nasser Engheta:
- Sabzeh ( سبزه " wheat " - " barley " - or " lentil sprouts " ) symbolizes cheerfulness ( sabz o Khoram "alive and kicking " )
- Samanou ( سمنو " pudding made from wheat " ) symbolizes beneficence and mercy
- Sir ( سیر " garlic " ) symbolizes protection
- Senjed ( سنجد " Whitebeam " ) symbolizes the seeds of life
- Serkeh ( سرکه " vinegar " ) symbolizes happiness
- Somagh ( سماق " Gewürzsumach " ) symbolizes the taste of life
- Sib ( سیب "apple" ) symbolizes health
Furthermore, the decoration panel includes:
- Sonbol ( سنبل "hyacinth " ) symbolizes friendship
- Sekeh ( سکه "coin" ) symbolizes prosperity
- Aiineh ( آیینه " mirror " ) symbolizes purity and honesty
- Sham ( شمع "candle" ) symbolizes fire
- Tokhm morgh rangi ( تخم مرغ رنگی " Painted Egg" ) symbolizes fertility
- Mahi ghermez ( ماهی قرمز " Goldfish" ) in the water symbolizes happiness
- Ketab ( کتاب " book" ) symbolizes wisdom
In addition to the prison Sin often are also a bowl of traditional sweets and classic pastries ( شیرینی سنتی ), another dish filled with various nuts, pistachios and dried fruit ( آجیل ), a bottle filled with rose water ( گلاب ), photo ( s ) of / the favorite family members - usually the deceased or the next generation of workers living abroad - as well as a small national flag on the table.
