Haggard (Band)

Haggard (English " wild", " lean ", " emaciated " ) is a German classical medieval metal band from the area around Munich, whose musical style is characterized by the combination of classical, medieval and Renaissance music with contemporary metal elements. Due to the classic elements of the band is assigned to the symphonic metal.

History

The band was founded in 1989 by Asis Nasseri and gained a reputation early in the Death Metal scene. Their musical style changed greatly after the first demo tapes and their first album And Thou Shalt Trust ... The Seer marked their breakthrough in 1997. After their second album Awaking The Centuries of 2000 they made two trips through Mexico, where they performed again in 2004. In Latin America (especially Mexico), they are significantly more popular than in Germany itself

Haggard is a project of the singer, songwriter and guitarist Asis Nasseri, of all songs - composed - with the exception of short classical pieces by Robert Greding. He has gathered nearly twenty musicians around him who support him in the studio and live. The instrumentation consists of a hand composed of the usual constituents of a rock band, including lead guitar, rhythm guitar, electric bass and drums, on the other hand, string instruments ( violins, viola, cello, double bass), wind instruments ( flute, clarinet, oboe, horn) and keyboard instruments ( organ, piano, harpsichord ). In medieval instruments, among other crooked horn, harp and timpani are represented.

The vocals are designed extremely versatile. At the sung, spoken and metal typical growled vocals of Asis Nasseri classically trained singers join in all positions from soprano to bass. Furthermore, the band has worked with the Schalleluja Chamber Choir and the New Moscow Radio Choir. Another special feature is the preference for multilingual vocals. On the albums, there are English, French, Swedish, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Latin passages.
