Hagnon

Hagnon (Greek Ἅγνων ), the son of Nicias was a politician and military leader in ancient Athens in the second half of the 5th century BC

He was one of the generals ( strategoi ) Athens in the criminal action against the renegade Samos in 440/439 BC and took in the year 437/436 BC Ennea Hodoi ( Eneia, Aineios ), where he a Greek colony founded under the name of Amphipolis.

At the beginning of the Peloponnesian War was Hagnon that occurred politically against Pericles, 431/430 ​​and 429/428 BC was again elected strategists.
