Haier

Haier (Chinese海尔, Pinyin Hǎiěr [ ˨ ˩ ˦ xai ˧ ˥ ɤɻ ] ) is a Chinese company and since 2009 with 5.1% market share worldwide leader in home appliances; by 2011, the global market share rose to 7.8%. The name derives from the second syllable of the German company Liebherr from (Chinese青岛-利勃海尔, Pinyin qīngdǎo - lìbóhǎiěr ). Haier achieved within 20 years of the rise of a simple refrigerator factory to multinational corporations.

History

" Qingdao Liebherr " was founded in 1984 in Qingdao, China; the company went from a cooperation with Liebherr forth. The logo is from the time of cooperation and should clarify with an Asian boy and a European boy the common waxes. 1991 was renamed to " Qingdao Haier " and in 1992 the present name of " Haier " and " Haier Group".

The proposed acquisition of the U.S. home appliance manufacturer Maytag in 2005 failed due to concerns on the Chinese side, whereupon the Haier competitor Whirlpool paid € 2 billion for Maytag. Across the globe in 2006 more than 50,000 people for Haier and generate sales of $ 16 billion. 2011, sales rose to 151 billion yuan ( 24.2 billion U.S. dollars), which were obtained with 70,000 employees. Brand name

A study conducted by McKinsey in August 2005 survey of the readers of the Financial Times identified as Haier, the Chinese company with the strongest brand names. Meanwhile, the products range from fridges to televisions to mobile phones. Companies like Haier or FAW -Volkswagen are often cited as prime examples of the rise of the Chinese economy.

Research and Development

Since 1995, Haier has increased its investment in research and development significantly. 1995 no patents have been registered yet, in 2007 there were about 200 patents and 200 utility model applications.
