Haila Mompié

Haila María Mompié González ( born January 28, 1974 in Amancio Rodríguez, Las Tunas ), called Haila Haila or Mompié, is a Cuban singer. She became internationally known as " La Diva del Son ".

Life and work

Haila Mompié was born into a artistically gifted family: her father was an amateur singer, her mother stylist. At the age of nine years, her musical education in Santiago de Cuba, where she studied dance began. From the beginning, their unusually good voice fell on. When she was 15 years old, she moved with her family to Havana, which interrupted her musical "career " for a short time. There she got 1991 on her daughter, the famous singer Son Yaquelín Castellanos know who was impressed by her singing talent and she recorded in her group " Septeto Tradición ", which concentrated mainly on the traditional Cuban music. Later she performed in Cabaret " Las Avenidas " and became a member of the group Habana Son With the Guajira Habanera project they had in 1994 their first appearance abroad in Mexico. In September 1994, she was a vocalist in the group Bamboleo, with whom she recorded two CDs and has performed in various countries.

In 1998 she founded with musician and composer Leonel Limonta the group Azucar Negra. Together they had successful performances in Europe and Latin America. Their record was a hit in the Cuban radio and television. The song became the anthem of Andar Andando for young and old.

In 2001, Haila then went on solo paths. Even before they occurred at various international events along with other Cuban, internationally known stars as soloist. In the following years she appeared as a performer on numerous CDs. The plate La Rumba Soy Yo got the Grammy Latino.

Even as a soloist took her international success not expire. She gave concerts in different countries of the world, including in the U.S. and in Japan, where they recorded their live album.
