Haim Alexander

Haim Alexander ( born August 9, 1915 in Berlin, † 18 March, 2012 Jerusalem (Hebrew חיים אלכסנדר; native: Heinz Günter ) was an Israeli composer and professor of composition, piano and music theory.

Life

Heinz Alexander lost his father early and therefore was " pupil" in Baruch Auerbach'schen orphanage in Berlin, Nice Allee 162 He began his musical studies at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin, had it in 1936, however, due to persecution cancel. He emigrated to Palestine and continued his studies there with Stefan Wolpe and Josef Tal continued until 1945. Later he was at the Rubin Academy of Music (Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance ) in Jerusalem professor. In 1981 he retired, but was more creatively active as a composer. He composed mainly chamber music and orchestral works as well as pieces for piano and vocals.

Work

Among his compositions include not only orchestral, choral, piano and organ works, chamber music and music for solo voices and instrumental ensembles and songs.
