Haim Corfu

Chaim Corfu (Hebrew חיים קורפו; born January 6, 1921 in Jerusalem, the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine ) is a former Israeli politician and a former minister.

Policy

From 1984 to 1996 he was from the 7th to the 12th legislative period Knesset. From 1969-1974 he was a Member of the Knesset the Gahal, from 1974-1992 he was a member of the Knesset of the Likud, from 1981-1988 he was the Israeli Minister of Transport.

Life

He studied at religious schools and yeshivas and attended seminars for teachers of religion. In 1937 he worked for the Irgun and was a member of the Irgun command in Jerusalem. During this time he played as a striker ( football) for Beitar Jerusalem. He used his apprenticeship as an electrician to build letter bombs, exploding boxes of chocolates with candy and exploding shells. He was imprisoned ( Irgun and Lehi internment in Africa) to escape with the British, where he used his skills as an electrician to.

After the establishment of Israel, he studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was a lawyer.
