Bismarck Tower on the Hainberg

The Haj u Aše ( German: Hainberg at Asch, 758 m) is the highest peak in the Bohemian part of the Ore Mountains. He is the local mountain of the city Aš ( Asch ) in the Czech Republic.

Location

The Haj rises just to the northeast of the city Aš in the Bohemian Vogtland. Other cities in the surrounding area are the villages belonging to Aš Doubrava (green) and Dolni Paseky (low Reuth ) and the Podhradí ( Neuberg ). At the summit there is a mountain inn with lookout tower.

In the current geomorphological classification of the Czech Republic is situated in the mountain highlands Hajská said part of the territory Ašská highlands, which in turn is part of the Smrčiny ( Fichtelgebirge) said main unit.

History

For a long time the Haj was bald and largely unplanted. 1861 bought him to the Ash community for 6,000 gold coins from the Zedtwitzern, and specified under the special assistance of Georg Unger, later also called " father of the grove 's", was created in the following years, the characteristic forest cover. For the construction of an observation tower, a building fund was created in 1874; 1898 was the Dresden architect Wilhelm Kreis the construction contract for the Bismarck tower. In the years 1902 and 1903 he was built and inaugurated on 19 June 1904.

Bismarck Tower

The 34 m high stone observation tower is one of three Bismarck towers on the territory of the Czech Republic. From its observation deck offers a magnificent panorama of Elstergebirge, Fichtelgebirge and Erzgebirge.

Way to the summit

Starting points for a visit to the mountain, the city and the municipality Aš podhradí. A blue -marked trail connects the two places and leads over the summit of the mountain.
