HÃ¥kan Samuelsson
Håkan Samuelsson ( born March 19, 1951 in Motala, Sweden) until November 23, 2009 CEO of MAN AG. Since October 2012, he is CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.
From 1972 to 1977 he studied at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. His first job as an engineer, he found the Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania. There he worked in various senior technical positions. In 1988 he became director of Powertrain ( responsible for the entire truck driving range ), 1993 Technical Director at " Scania Latin America" , 1993 Member of the Board ( responsible for the development and production).
In early 2000, he moved to MAN, where he held the position of CEO of " MAN Truck & Bus AG " and board member of the "MAN AG ". From 1 January 2005, he was the successor of Rudolf Rupprecht CEO of MAN AG. Its Board of Directors content was 3.3 million euros. Since 24 January 2008 he is member of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG; for this work he received 2011 165.000 euros in the fiscal year.
His strategy was to focus on growth and profitable business in transportation, drive, energy and strategic international location mix
On November 23, 2009 Samuelsson announced his resignation. For provisional successor of MAN SE, the Presidium of the Supervisory Board appointed the Austrian Dr. -Ing. Georg Pachta- Reyhofen.
In January 2011, MAN demanded of him 237 million euros in damages because of a bribery scandal during his tenure.
In the wake of the bribery scandal, the Munich prosecutor has 2012 investigation included aiding and abetting bribery against Samuelsson and former Chief Financial Officer of MAN SE, Karlheinz Hornung.
On 19 October 2012, the Volvo Car Corporation announced that Håkan Samuelsson was appointed immediately as the new CEO. It replaces the former VW executive Stefan Jacoby.
