Hakomi

Hakomi is a body - oriented psychotherapy and experiential method. It was developed in the 1970s by Ron Kurtz ( 1934-2011 ), who built it, developed by Wilhelm Reich and Alexander Lowen body psychotherapy methods into its own method.

The word " Hakomi " comes from the language of the Hopi Indians and means " The one who you are," or in the form of a question, " Who are you? ". It describes the core of the Hakomi Method: the study of self-organization.

The medical effectiveness of the method is not scientifically proven, as with all body therapeutic procedures. The costs are therefore non-refundable.

Concept

The Hakomi method combines psychotherapy and systemic theory with Eastern philosophy and body-centered techniques. Kurtz Hakomi combines five principles: mindfulness, unity, non-violence, self-organization, and the mind-body unity.

  • The principle of mindfulness is by Nyanaponika " the clear, undeflected observing what is in the moment of each present experience ( an external or internal ) really going on ( ... ) without judgmental to comment ". In contrast to mindfulness practice in behavioral therapy according to Jon Kabat-Zinn Hakomi turns to the state of consciousness of mindfulness directly in the therapeutic work and deepened by the current experience at different levels of experience - physically, emotionally, and with all your senses. Since its creation in the 1970s integrates the Hakomi method mindfulness directly in the therapeutic process.
  • The principle of unity is based on the interconnectedness of all things and is in sympathy with the theory of complex adaptive systems. In practice, the Hakomi method, so both the inner world of the client and the therapeutic relationship is precipitated in a fundamentally systemic view, concerning.
  • In principle of non-violence more subtle forms, such as manipulation, suggestion, urging confrontation and violence as apply to Kurtz. Ron Kurtz has developed special techniques to work with non-violent resistance and internal barriers. He thereby assumes that the violence builds trust and creates security so that a deeper access to the protected inner regions is possible. At the same time in this way for the therapist to work more easily and effortless.
  • The principle of self-organization ( organicity ) postulated that every living system inherent ability to heal itself. In the Hakomi method, the therapist tries to follow these processes, rather than relying on their own ideas and to control certain goals. Rather, it attempts to create favorable conditions that the mindfully observed inner world of the client itself dictates the direction in which she wants to move to solve outdated limitations and to make new ones, expanding experiences.
  • The principle of the mind-body unit emphasizes the inseparability of body and mind. Thus, over the body especially levels and formative experiences that are not mentally aware, be made available. The assumption that man is an organism in which all spiritual, mental and physical processes are inextricably linked, in all body psychotherapy methods plays a fundamental role and learns by recent neurobiological research results eg by Antonio Damasio and R. L. Cozolino support.
