Hal Kanter

Hal Kanter, actually Henry Kanter, ( born December 18, 1918 in Savannah, Georgia, † November 6, 2011 in Encino, California ) was an American screenwriter, producer and director.

Life

Kanter was born into a family of Russian immigrants and was the eldest son of the illustrator Albert Kanter (1897-1973) and his wife Rose honor Rich. Soon after his arrival in the U.S., Kanter settled with his family in Long Iceland (New York).

With 14 years of Kanter in 1932 a member of the Art Students League in New York. In 1941, he married his longtime girlfriend, Doris and got with her three daughters. Also in 1941 he volunteered for the U.S. Army and worked, among other things at the American Forces Network ( AFN) and the Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS).

After the war began Kanter et al Writing screenplays. The focus of his work as a producer and as a director were mostly comedies; He worked a lot with the actors Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis and Elvis Presley.

Hal Kanter died six weeks before his 93rd birthday in Encino and found his final resting place.
