Hal Needham

Hal Needham Brett ( born March 6, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee, † October 25, 2013 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American stuntman, director, actor and screenwriter.

Life

Hal Needham participated as a paratrooper in the Korean War. His career in film began as a stuntman. He also doubled as Burt Reynolds, with whom he later turned the majority of his films. He was the founder of Stunts Unlimited and interpreted numerous small roles in various productions, as well as in the television series Charlie's Angels. With A Smokey and the Bandit 1977 he gave his debut as a director; In 1983 and 1984 he was nominated for the Golden Raspberry respectively as Worst Director. In 1985 he was again nominated as Worst Director for the Golden Raspberry. His screenplay for On the highway the hell is going on again received a nomination for the anti price.

1986 Needham was awarded the Scientific and Engineering Award at the Academy Awards for the development of the so-called Shot Maker Elite camera car and crane.

2001 Needham received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Stunt Awards. 2012 Needham was awarded as a stuntman honor Oscar for his life's work. Needham was thus to Yakima Canutt (1967 ) only the second stunt, the an honorary Oscar was presented. As a stuntman and coordinator, he worked for some 300 feature films and 4,500 television series episodes in his own words.
