Hal Sutton

Hal Evan Sutton ( born April 28, 1958 in Shreveport, Louisiana) is an American professional golfer on the PGA TOUR. He belongs to the group of Major winner and was captain (non -playing captain ) of the Ryder Cup teams in the United States in 2004.

Career

Sutton comes from a wealthy family, which owns an oil company is located. After winning the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1980, he was on professional golfer of the year.

Two years later, Sutton got his first and only major, the PGA Championship in 1983, by one shot on Jack Nicklaus. From 1982 to 1986, the young star recorded seven tournament victories, including the highly doped Players Championship. Then followed until 1995, a winless time before Sutton from 1998 penetrated especially back in the top 10 World Golf Rankings, and collected more titles. To date, a total of fourteen tournament victories on the PGA TOUR on its credit side. Noteworthy was his win at the Players Championship of the year 2000, when he defeated Tiger Woods with a sensational final sprint.

Sutton was four times in the Ryder Cup Team of the U.S., before being appointed in 2004 to captain (non -playing captain ). This comparison battle in the domestic Oakland Hills Country Club ended in a debacle of Americans and Sutton had to fend off fierce criticism of his countrymen. In the Presidents Cup, he worked twice as a player.

Since April 2008 he is eligible for the Champions Tour.

Hal Sutton is married with his wife Ashley. The two have three daughters, including one twins and live in Sutton's home community Shreveport.
