Hala Gorani

Hala Basha - Gorani ( born March 1, 1970 in Seattle, Washington ) is a Syrian- American journalist who has worked as a news anchor and reporter for CNN International.

Life

Gorani grew up in Washington DC, Algeria and Paris as the daughter of Syrian immigrants. She then studied economics at George Mason University near Washington DC and political science at Sciences Po in Paris. Gorani began her journalistic career as a reporter for the French daily newspaper La Voix du Nord and at the AFP news agency, before moving to the second largest French television channel France 3, 1994. After a brief stopover at Bloomberg Television in London, she joined in 1998 then to the American news channel CNN.

Quickly Gorani developed as a specialist in the Middle East and reported, among other things, from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq. In the years 2002, 2007 and 2012, she reported live on the French presidential election.

Since February 2009, Hala Gorani hosted their own show International Desk.

Hala Gorani speaks fluent English, French and Arabic.
