Halaesa
Halaesa or Italian Alesa Arconidèa was an ancient city in the province of Messina in Sicily.
Location
History
The exact founding year is 403 BC Probably the city of Archonides, the tyrant of Herbita was founded. Other sources were the Carthaginians founder of the city.
263 BC fought the city on the part of the Romans during the First Punic War. Halaesa was thus the first city in Sicily, fighting on the Roman side, and was declared a reward by the Romans to a free city. Since the time of Augustus the city declined.
Construction
The city was built up very regularly. City walls with towers surrounded the city. Inside there were two temples.
