Geography
Location
Halfing lies in the planning region of southeastern Upper Bavaria, more precisely in Chiemgau.
The village is located around 17 km north-east of Rosenheim, 14 km south of Wasserburg am Inn, 5 km north-west of Endorf, 13 km north- west of Prien am Chiemsee and 35 km from Traunstein.

History
Halfing 928 was first mentioned. The place belonged from 1732 to 1803 as a closed Hofmark ( Halfing with Forchtenegg ) for Seeon which it had acquired by the Lords of Fossa. 1803 Hofmarksgericht Halfing was lifted. In the same year Halfing came to the district court consolation mountain. Halfing was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 an independent political community. In 1853 the municipality to district court Prien and with this then in 1862 to the newly formed district of Rosenheim.

Economy and infrastructure
The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of 1392 T € in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted 537 T €.
Traffic
The Federal Highway 8 (junction Bernau am Chiemsee ) lies 18 km to the south. In Halfing there is a small railway station ( Chiemgau local train ). The train runs on weekends and special occasions of Endorf about Bad Endorf airfield ( request stop ), Halfing, Amerang, Aindorf ( request stop ) and Pittenhart ( request stop ) to Obing the lake.
